I liked that when I had a question, I didn’t have to wait days for a response. My emails were always returned in a timely manner, and you always answered your phone. ~Leah White, 1/10/12 ******************************************************************************************************************************** After viewing the Grammar Review class, a student shared these remarks: The sentence parts of the class were very concise and the examples you provided were a great addition. Also, I think you also have a very well thought-out question and answer section included throughout the class which reinforces the learning process. You also give us such great confidence that we will be successful in our goal of becoming scopists. I love the encouragement. The classes are such an important part of what you offer your students that I am very thankful that I registered for your SMA course. Paula Richardson, 8/28/11 ******************************************************************************************************************************** Here is a link to several students and graduates who shared their views of SMA/SIP: http://readback.org/questions/4829/By-your-own-experience-who-graduates-the-best-scopists.asp ******************************************************************************************************************************** I am really enjoying the classes. It helps me feel that I am on track and not hopelessly lost and behind to see others having questions and challenges with the same issues that I am! I also think you make what could otherwise be fairly dry topics (grammar and punctuation!) more fun and enjoyable. ~Ana, 5/5/11 ********************************************************************************************************************************* Again GREAT class yesterday. ~Christine, 1/21/11 ********************************************************************************************************************************** Your course is well-structured and your patience and encouragement plentiful. ~Carol Zito, 1/19/11 ********************************************************************************************************************************** I LOVE the personal attention you give to your students! Better than an in-person class so far! ~Lynn Lindner, 11/8/10 ********************************************************************************************************************************** You're still the fastest responder I know! ~Dorothy Coombs, 11/8/10 *********************************************************************************************************************************** After viewing the Eclipse Basics class, Lee Ann Nussbaum had this to say: Great class, as always, Devon. Very informative. Yes, my head is swimming, but you touched on all the basics. It will all fall into place. :) 11/7/10 After viewing the Taxes and Invoices class, Lee Ann Nussbaum had this to say: Great class. A lot of useful information provided, especially to those who have not worked as an independent contractor before. 11/3/10 ********************************************************************************************************************************** "I want to take a moment to thank you for all the course work. The lesson exercises were put together very well, and were very helpful in the learning process. The content of the lessons was in very good sequence for teaching me a new language." ~Paula Richardson, 11/1/10 *********************************************************************************************************************************** After receiving the transcript evaluation from a recent submission of her work, this student (a legal and general transcriptionist) had this to say: I'm glad you call it a 'new path' for our brains. I think I need to dig a trench in mine :) I love how you produce our feedback on these. It's so easy for us to pick up and see what we did wrong. ~Jeanne Murie, 10/8/10 *********************************************************************************************************************************** You weren't kidding when you said you would prepare us! ~Dorothy Coombs, April 15, 2010 ************************************************************************************************************************************************************** A Prospective Inquiry posed this question: Do you feel you are receiving proper training to do the work as well as to market yourself and take your first big step into the scoping world? I am very happy with the training. Devon really cares that you feel confident in your skills and that you have the skills required to do the job. *********************************************************************************************************************************** I will refer your program every chance I get because I believe it is producing well-trained, ready-to-work scopists. Plus, I know your advice and mentoring does not stop once when the program is completed. You really care about the success of your students after the "bookwork" is finished. The conference calls are a huge value-added bonus. And now the new forum! Devon, thank you for taking me "under your wing." Sincerely, Joyce Preusser, 11/15/09 |
Even though I had finished scoping training with someone else, I knew I wasn't ready to begin working for a court reporter. It was such a blessing to find Joyful Scoping and the SIP program. Devon's knowledge, availability, patience and teaching skills continues to help me make progress toward becoming an expert scopist. Jayleen, SIP, 9/18/10 ******************************************************************************************************************* I felt Devon was better than any other instructor I’ve encountered as far as responding to questions or just offering encouragement and kind words!! I wish I had studied with Devon to begin with!! Dawn Rose Spencer Graduated 2/1/10 ****************************************************************************************************************************************** Devon, I am so excited about your Scoping Intern Program. I have already learned so much in the short time I have been enrolled. The conference calls are like being in a virtual classroom and are a great learning tool. I have gained great confidence in the skills I am learning and it is all because of you and your devotion to your students! I only wish had learned about your scoping program sooner. I would recommend your program to anyone interested in this field. Debbie Hansin, March 12, 2010 |

| Student Feedback from SMA and SIP |
| Since SMA feels strongly about getting feedback about services that are offered, SMA asks each student and graduate to fill out an evaluation survey. Here are a couple of responses from a student completing the steno language section and a couple of graduates: |
| Regarding the tuition charged for this training, do you feel that you received: Your money's worth. I paid $500 for the SIP. More than your money's worth and feel that $1000 should be charged instead. Less than your money's worth and feel that $ should be charged instead is what it should be in the future. 6/30/11 |
| Regarding the steno language training: What did you most enjoy about the steno training? I enjoyed every aspect, it was like learning to read all over again! The program layout is exceptional in and of itself; each layer builds on the other bolstering confidence. I sincerely appreciated my instructor's availability and thorough explanations. The turn around time for questions was remarkable and her patience noteworthy. 6/27/11 |
Now that you have completed the training program, do you feel that the introductory information you received regarding the training was accurate? x Yes No 6/28/11 |
