| For Christians, death is not a period -- it's only a comma. |
******************** ******************** Are you giving the Lord credit where He's due? Start your day with Him and your day will never be the same. Hand the reigns over to the Lord. You'll never regret it!! ****************** ****************** |
| Do you ever feel like you don't know how to pray? If you do, consider this: The Lord simply wants a verbal connection with you. He does not care about "how" you communicate with Him, just that you "do" communicate with Him. He wants to hear your requests, frustrations and joys. He is the ultimate "Father" in your life. No earthly father could attempt to give the unconditional love that "Our Father" does. Try to be focused in your prayer time. Start small, say five minutes. Generally, if you can follow this guideline, it may help you: 1. Share your praises and gratitude with Him. How has He met your basic needs? 2. Lay your burdens and worries at His feet. He more than wants to carry them for you. Once you lay them at His feet though, do you best to not take them back. 3. Have faith that the Lord is working in your best interest so we need to focus any requests that we desire to be in alignment with His will. Be receptive to His connection with you. The stories on the left share some of my own personal experiences with God. The closer you get to God, the more you'll see His handiwork in your life. |
| Are you hearing the Lord and obeying Him? A note from Devon - I had two experiences recently when the Lord was telling me to do something differently than what I had planned. When I carried through with what I was hearing, I was truly amazed by the outcome. The Lord is speaking to us in everyday situations even though we sometimes wonder if He's really there. First, I went to buy some laundry detergent last week and being very conscientious about my budget, I decided that I could wait one more week to make that purchase. Well, Sunday morning, my dear elderly neighbor shared her Sunday newspaper coupons with me. As I went through them, there was a coupon for $2 off my laundry detergent. I simply smiled. Also, that morning as I took my morning walk, my mindset was that I'd like to really enjoy the whole day off and not go to church. My son was not going (he lives with his dad and they were out hunting) and so I knew that few would notice my absence. Well, as I was taking my morning walk I was hearing the Lord's prompting for me to go to church anyway because somebody was there who needed me. As it turned out, there were three people who did need me for different reasons. Once again, I kind of shook my head and realized how important it is for me to keep listening and obeying the Lord. Those of you who have worked with me know that I serve the Lord through my work and that is my ultimate goal each day. The Lord continues to bless me each day and I am so thankful He is/was willing to accept me, sins and all, into His loving arms and eternal kingdom. If I may sharing this with you has touched you, please share that with me. I think it is so important for Christians to keep showing the world that the Lord will prevail in all circumstances. And what a true blessing that is!! |

| Prayer for the Unemployed Dear Lord Jesus Christ, You wanted all who are weary to come to You for support. Lord, I am worn out by my inability to find wage-earning work. Day after day, my worry and fear grows as the rejections of my applications mount. I am able and willing to work --- but I cannot find a worthwhile job. Please help me to obtain one soon so that I can support myself and my family in a decent way. However, if it is your will that I wait longer, enable me to worry less and to be able to take advantage of the time available to get closer to You. Let me realize that there are other ways to bring about your kingdom on earth besides salaried work. Help me to make use of them for the time being so that I may continue to grow as a person for your greater glory. Amen. |
During the month of March, SMA is walking through transcripts during the conference calls. These are the favorite training part of the students. :) |

| Friday, March 5 2010 I am very thankful for the "grace" the Lord has blessed me with in the hectic days of work. I would be so lost without Him. This week I have been approached by five different court reporters for scoping work. So it does appear, at least through Joyful Scoping, that the scoping work is picking up. The large project Joyful Leads is currently coordinating is using about 17 scopists and will run through May. We have enough people for that project. But anyone can sign up to go through the screening process (use referrals or take the exam) in order to be a part of the scoping jobs lead program for all future work requests. I'm enjoying slowly warmer temps in Iowa (40s today) while the sun works hard to melt the 2 feet of snow still left on the ground. My gardening spirit is certainly festering, lol. New scopists, feel free to take the time to look over this website. I do my best to provide lots of resources for you. And you may want to consider the Scoping Intern Program (SIP) which began over a year ago due to the great number of graduated students who wanted more files to practice and to have the guidance and instructor behind them showing them their mistakes. It has been a very successful program. My work schedule remains hectic and I would be lost without my charts and calendar. My response time to emails and voice messages is within 24 hours. I do my best to address each as soon as it arrives. Blessings, Devon |
SMA is in the process of uploading the entire scoping training curriculum onto an educational platform. This will allow students to have quick and easy access. |
